Nhapitapi Mbira (meaning “sweet mbira” in the Shona language) is a Toronto-based band formed by Memory Makuri, Evelyn Mukwedeya and
Mutamba Rainos. The group performs traditional Zimbabwean music based on the mbira instrument. Nhapitapi Mbira’s interest is to present mbira music as a
living classical genre, which is entertaining and healing. Additionally, they hope to allow others to access mbira music and learn it for performance and
