As a multi-disciplinary performing artist, Ms. Emerencia has been the recipient of many awards over the years, such as the Canada Council, Ontario Arts Council and the Toronto Arts Council awards. She sat on Toronto Arts Council’s, Community Arts committee for three years and on Dance Immersion’s Board – an organization promoting Black Dance in Canada – for three years. She was also amongst the five top selling artists at Prologue To The Performing Arts for years performing over 150 shows a year.
Since her return to Aruba in 2009, she recorded a CD – on percussion and vocals – with the group Ki-le-le, under the direction of the Tumba King of Curacao, Harry Zimmerman. She has choreographed Tera, for Simandanza’s yearly dance concert, in March of 2010 at Cas di Cultura. In May 2011, she toured Suriname with a production of Muchilla Creativo’s, Shon Trupial Ta Malo, ( translated in Dutch ) performing 36 shows in six days. Last March, 2012, she was in the hit Canadian production of Vagina Monologues in Aruba, directed by Rhoma Spencer.
