Tiago Ciccone is a percussionist and guitarist, and an occasional berimbau and mandolin player born and raised in Campinas, Brazil, and spent his teenage years in Salvador. He has been living in Canada since 2006. Since childhood, he has been fascinated by the complexity and richness of Brazilian music, especially the old sambas from the 50’s, 60’s, and the memorable TV music festivals that presented some of the most important artists that Brazil has seen
In 2003, he joined a samba vocal quartet, with three other colleagues from his university psychology department. With the Group “Zabalê” he sang and played sambas and Brazilian regional music, playing in the local music venues, local TV stations and doing opening shows for national musicians.
In June 2013, he joined the Dan Ionescu Band, or “dansband”, expanding his musical horizons as a singer and percussion player. He looks forward to participating in Toronto’s Brazilian and other musical communities in the near future.
