René Highway (1954 – 1990) was an extraordinary Cree dancer and actor from Manitoba.  He studied at Toronto Dance Theatre and at Denmark’s Tukak Theatre and the Native Canadian Centre of Toronto.  He performed in many productions for Native Earth Performing Arts including his brother Thomson’s The Rez Sisters and Dry Lips Oughta Move to Kapuskasing.

He starred in Street Legal, Divided Loyalties and The Campbells.
